Gold Xbox 360 Faceplate - Real Gold!

Yes, someone has turned a 999.9 gold bar into a 24k Gold Faceplate for the Xbox 360. You may think thats gonna cost alot, well yeh, it does and it starting price is $36,000 on ebay.

From the ad on Ebay:

OVER PRICED!!!

Yet another issue seems to be repeatedly brought to my attention.  I would have never guessed this, but apparently there is a LARGE number of resident experts out there who seemingly know the cost involved with producing one of these.  They must have 5 or 6 of their own and are heavily involved with the manufacturing of them.

I am amused as out of the 40,000+ views so far, people write me as though they are the first and only ones to figure out that the weight of this gold in a simple bullion form would only cost around $14,000-$15,000.

Yup, just buy a chunk of gold, and whack it with a hammer.

Whack it with a hammer?

Yup, just whack it with a hammer and then you'll have a perfectly formed faceplate.

Amazon Fail August Pre-Order Consumers But Give September

Amazon has caused a major stir in the Xbox 360 pre-order community.  It appears they have cocked-up their pre-orders for mainly August/September pre-orders.  Consumer who ordered later are gaining preference over those who pre-ordered from August and September.

Alot of the Xbox 360 pre-order community very irrate and hence a number of fourms have long threads complaining about the lack of information or guarantee from Amazon they will get there console before christmas.

Due to this huge issue, fellow pre-orderer has created a web site (http://www.digidots.co.uk/amazon.php) dedicated to log consumers who have this problem. Currently registered are 390 consumers of which 75% are within the last 2wk of August pre-order dates have had consoles going to laterer pre-orderers, clearly not first come, first serve.

The BBC and IT Vibe have now picked up this news story and is covering Amazon repsonses.

I strongly recommend all who pre-ordered from 17th August to mid September to sign the petition mentioned above.

Samsung Shows Bendy Screen

Samsung recently showed the largest flexible screen to date.  The screen used two films of non-brital plastic to sandwich the liquid crystal between.  This sounds similar to the screens by Sharp due out in 2007.

More PS3 Developers Favour Xbox 360

It seems Sony may have developed a beast of a power house machine for gaming but apparently its is such a complex beast to developr for compare with Xbox 360.  The Xbox 360 development is based on XNA (a direvaitive or next version of direct x) runnning on a PC.  However the PS3 development kit relies on developers shelling out alot of Yen up front to develop for the console.  Once the development kit has been bought, the developers will only end up with one platform to launch the title on, where as with Xbox 360 developers can launch the title on both Xbox 360 and PC.

The develop in the below article details their reasons for jumping ship to Xbox 360 and why PS3 will require rare super-talented developers.

Only 300,00 Xbox 360s for Europe

Well it looks like Europe is being screwed over again, the US had over 1 million Xbox 360 consoles for its launch.  The European launch speculation is currently only 300,000 units will be available for 2-Dec 2005 launch day.  If this is true, then its laughable, how can Microsoft justify the large difference across regions.  Do Microsoft see the US as more important than the rest of the world?  I think so.

I and a friend have done some local investigation as to number of units available for Friday (2-Dec-2005).  Our local Toys R Us store told us they were expecting only 24 units for launch day split by 12 Core and 12 Deluxe units all goin on general sale at 8am.
