Human Brain Simulator Cometh

I found an interesting article on the BBC.co.uk website yesterday, talking about the use of IBM new supercomputer to created a 3D simulation of the brains neocortex.
How complex is this to accomplish, well here a quote from Henry Markram, the EPFL professor leading the project:
"Modelling the brain at the cellular level is a massive undertaking because of the hundreds of thousands of parameters that need to be taken into account,"

ATI Assassin Demo Footage at Last
Well its taken a while to find a source for the footage to this
demo, but I finally found it today. The images below are taken
from the demo in realtime, sadly the quality of the footage is not the best
and is obviously cam footage.

Above is a selection of images from the demo, but if you want to see more images and the footage for yourself then head over to Xboxyde.com website.

Microsoft license Nvidia for 360 Backwards Compatibility
Microsoft have now licensed the ability to allow backwards
compatibility from Nvidia whihc will allow the original Xbox games to
run on the Xbox 360.
The idea is to apparently emulate the original Xbox' Intel CPU on one of the Xbox 360 multiple IBM PowerPC
cores. Due to this licensing deal with Nvidia, the graphics will now be
able to emulate the NVIDIA chip to some extent on the ATI graphics chip
in the Xbox 360.
The emulation for orignal Xbox games will be done through emulation
profiles which a number of will ship with the Xbox 360 already
installed on its hard drive. Other games profles can then be
downloaded fro Free from the Xbox Live service. however, no
mention has been made for those owners who do not have an Xbox Live
account and dont want one.

PS3 Killzone 2 Footage Real or Mockup?
Well if you are like myself and been wondering whether the KillZone 2 incredible game footage at E3 was in fact a realtime demo on the PS3 or just a clever pre-rendered game demo, I found the answer - at last.

In an interview with Killzone PS3 designer, Jan-Bart Van Beek at ps3.ign.com he answers a few questions about the demo, the machine and most importantly was the demo real. The quote to the question and answers is:
Is the Killzone sequence a fair example of what people can expect from realtime gameplay on PlayStation 3?
Jan-Bart: Yeah, it's basically a representation of the look and feel of the game we're trying to make.
Well there you have it, not a decisive yes its a pre-rendered demo or yes its running on PS3 hardware. What Sony have now done by the demo and this interview by the games designers is state to the gaming world this is what the PS3 is capable of - I hope for their sake the can make it happen!
