E3 2006: Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive, 130GBP?
Rumours in retail are suggesting converations with Microsoft are putting the new HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 at less than 130GBP in the UK. The device is not due until Sep/Oct 2006 and with the Games Conference in Lepzeig in August where I expect the official announcement to be made. This is based on the same conference is where Microsoft announced the official Xbox 360 launch and pricing details last year.
For more detail on this head over to CVG.
E3 2006: PS3 Pricing Announced
Well after alot of debating by many industry analysts, the PS3 pricing was finally announced. The PS3 will come in two SKUs, the 399EUR version without HDMI, memory card or 802.11 b/g wireless and the 599EUR version everything.
It is also intriguing the PS3 wireless does not include the more recent addiction of 802.11a, especially as 802.11b/g has far more devices using those standards of wireless. Time will tell if this is upgraded to include 802.11a or wait for the new 802.11e in the final stages of standardisation.
Also raising concerns and picking holes in Microsoft approach when the Xbox 360 rollout in two SKUs, Sony now appears to see the benefit and enter the market with the same approach.
More details or the differences can be found over at MaxPS3.

Xbox360 Un-Seen Ad
With adverts for games getting more and more surreal, I came across a Xbox360 TV advaert which appears to have been banned. Although I can see why it was banned I am sure you will agree unlike most surreal ads, this one gets the point of Xbox360 online gaming across.
Check out the advert here at Google Videos.

New Film for 2006 - Eragon
Whilst doing my usual weekday browsing for new films coming soon, I discovered a new fantasy film based on the best selling novels by Christopher Paolini, Eragon. The film, like the books is a dragon-themed tale and nearing the final stages of production.
Not much is known about the films details but some big name actors are involved as you can see from the first full film poster below.

The film is due December 2006 so we should see one or two trailers soon.
